    Body Shop Technician

    As a Body Shop Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to support our operations.  This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work independently and as part of a team and willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Review repair order to understand the repairs needed
    • Check parts rack to make sure the parts are correct and all that are needed are present. Perform meticulous teardown for accurate estimate purposes including organizing clips in container by body panel, store parts, so as not to lose any
    • Examine vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required, help draft supplement if extra parts or labor is needed
    • Make repairs to the body and frame according to the manufacturer’s specifications and procedures
    • Perform welding and body alignment
    • Verify color match prior to assembly to review the final repair order to ensure all repairs are made and listed on the repair order
    • Save and tag all parts that need to be returned and/or if warranty work parts
    • Preparing and spraying paint, including scuffing, sanding, masking and cleaning off parts. As well a properly applying paint
    • Keep work area neat and clean and be accountable for all tools used
    • Attend shop sponsored training classes and keep up to date on factory technical bulletin
    • Operate all equipment in Body Shop in a safe and productive manner
    • Ensure customers vehicle is kept clean
    • Document all work performed as soon as the job is completed
    • Understands and follows federal, state and local regulations, such as the disposal of hazardous waste

    Qualifications

    • I-CAR experience preferred
    • Vocation or auto technician training preferred, or 5 years of practical knowledge within an auto body repair facility
    • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information as well as oral and written communications skills
    • General mechanical skill and manual dexterity
    • Must have own tools
    • Valid driver’s license, or working towards getting one

    Wages

    Wages are determined by the amount of experience and qualifications.  ($42k-$72k)

    Or Commission based wage (40%)
